Richard “Dale” Condren

Richard “Dale” Condren passed away May 15, 2011 in Palmdale, California. Dale was born August 20, 1930 in Santa Paula, the son of Mark L. and Myrtie Condren.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Phillips Condren; children Julie Shirar (Gary) and Steve Condren (Laura); grandchildren Amanda and Jacob Shirar; sister Dorothy Condren Allee; and many nieces and nephews.

Dale grew up in Santa Paula, attended schools here and graduated in 1948 from Santa Paula High School, where he was on the Track Team and was the Art Editor for the El Solano.

He was drafted in 1950, went to Boot Camp at Camp Roberts, California, and served the rest of his time in Korea. After he was discharged, he went to work for Wm. L. Morris in the parts department. This is where he met the love of his life, Helen, who worked in bookkeeping for Morris.

Dale tried his hand at running his own business, in the citrus industry, for a couple of years. But getting married and starting a new business didn’t work out, and he went to work in Simi for Southern California Water Co. The company grew and so did Dale’s responsibilities, from meter reader, pumper, foreman to superintendent.

Helen and Dale had moved to Simi to be close to his job and lived there for 30 years. By this time Bill Morris Jr. had opened his Chevrolet dealership in Simi, and Helen went to work there for Bill.

When Dale retired from the Water Co. Helen retired from Wm. L Morris and they moved

to Exeter, California, where they enjoyed living for 17 years, and were in the process of moving to Palmdale to be close to their family when Dale died.

At his request there will be no service.
