Peggy Prieur Grainger

Peggy Prieur Grainger died peacefully at home on March 26, 2014. She was born in Santa Paula October 9, 1925 and graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1944.  She married Robert Grainger of Santa Paula August 8, 1944.

She spent 20 years as an Air Force wife, during this time she was active in many Air Force charitable organizations and began a life long association with the Girl Scouts of America as a leader, organizer, and member.  Because as a young child she contracted polio, she actively participated in the Mother’s March of Dimes every year.  Returning to Santa Paula after Robert’s retirement she spent more than 20 years with the Ebell Club as a volunteer at both Santa Paula Health Care and Twin Pines Convalescent Home, often as much as 30 hours a week. She became a Girl Scout leader again.  She was in charge of the kitchen at the Santa Paula United Methodist Church and Chairman of the annual holiday bazaar for the church for many years.

She is survived by her brother William Prieur, her three children Barbara Tauber, Charles (Butch) Grainger, and Toni Starling.  She has seven grand children and 11 great grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed.
