If you don’t want to leave democracy behind remember: the deadline to register to vote or to change your registration for the November 4th General Election is Monday, October 20.

And if are a mail-in voter, already registered and raring’ to go you can drop your completed ballot off at Santa Paula City Hall, 970 E. Main St. where there is a Blue Box in the lobby ready to take your ballots.

According to the office of Clerk Recorder/Registrar of Voters Mark Lunn - Ventura County’s “Top Election Gun” - voters can register online at

www.registertovote.ca.gov

Voters, who must be at least 18 years old on Election Day and a United States citizen, also may call the county’s Elections Division at 805-654-2664 to request that a voter registration card be mailed to them; but, to save time those wishing to register can visit City Hall, the Post Office or Blanchard Community Library, Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce or one of the city’s two Fire Stations for a registration form. Such venues throughout the county also have registration forms.

Unlike mail-in-ballots, which are only accepted for processing if they are in the hands of Lunn’s office by 8 p.m. on Election Day, mailed-in registration forms are valid if postmarked by Monday’s deadline.

For more information, visit www.venturavote.org or call 805-654-2664.

And don’t forget: when it comes to the November 4th General Election there’s an app for that.

Lunn announced the launch of a NEW Elections mobile App for smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices last week. The Elections mobile app will enable the 839,000 residents of Ventura County to view real-time elections information via an iPhone, iPad or Android mobile device.

Lunn said the app is impressive: “With our on-going efforts to promote voter participation, the mobile app will enable voters to look up their voter registration status, polling place locations, sample ballots and track their Vote By Mail ballot.”

Information and links available within the app provide both registered and non-registered voters access to: voter registration, election night results, candidate filing schedules and forms, poll worker opportunities, resources for voters serving in the military or overseas, and contact information for the Ventura County Elections Division. The app also features a countdown clock which tracks the number of days remaining before the next election, the last day to register to vote, and the first day to request a Vote By Mail ballot.

For links to the Ventura County Elections mobile app, residents may visit the County Clerk Recorder Elections Division website (www.VenturaVote.org): the mobile app is available to download at no cost to the user via the Apple App Store or on Google Play.
