Ernest (Ernie) Sevilla, MSGT U.S. Air Force Retired (1935 - 2015)

Ernest (Ernie) Sevilla was born in Santa Barbara, California on October 6, 1935 and passed away on, January 24, 2015 at the age of 79.

During his childhood, he moved to Santa Paula, CA where he graduated from the local high school and where he earned his letterman sweater for running track.  After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served our country.

Although his first tour of duty was brief, it molded his future.  He was honorably discharged from the military and began a career in the grocery business for several years, and then was a used car salesman until re-enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Reserve Recruiter. He served for 26 years until his retirement from Castle Air Force Base in 1993. He won several prestigious awards as a recruiter, including a South East Asia trip accompanied by several senior ranking officials.  He was a very proud airman and was honored to have served his country.

Ernie earned his Associate of Arts degree in Business at Merced Community College while still serving in the military.

After retiring from the Air Force, he was a demonstrator for Top Priority Sales located inside Costco facilities within the Central Valley.  During his days off, he participated in a singing group, Jan and Friends, singing songs at several assisted living homes in Atwater and Merced, CA, bringing a smile to everyone’s face with his talent.  Whether in Spanish or English, the residents loved to hear him sing.

Throughout his life, he exemplified strength, encouragement, love for family, and zeal for life. Whether he was the coach of athletic teams, the biggest fan in the stands, a personal groupie, or guidance counselor, Pop, grandfather, great-grandfather will always be with each and every one of his family members....and his legacy will endure within our hearts forever.

Ernest is preceded in death by his parents, Luis Sevilla and Rosemary Sanchez, and brothers Alfred,  Albert, Phillip and Manuel.  He is survived by his wife Glenda Sevilla of Atwater, CA; sisters Evangeline and Jess Solice of Santa Paula, CA, and Tommie and Eddie Reyes of Santa Paula, CA; children Rosemary and Larry Navarro of Santa Paula, CA, Albert and Janice Sevilla of Santa Paula, CA, Eileen Sevilla of Atwater, CA, Ernest Sevilla Jr of Phoenix, AZ, Luis and Joellen Sevilla of Atwater, CA, and Lorraine and John Buckley of Fort Leavenworth, KS; He leaves a legacy of more than 60+ grandchildren and great grandchildren combined.
