Frances Gutierrez Frances Gutierrez, 91, of Santa Paula, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2003 at her residence after a brief illness. Frances was born December 3, 1911 in Brighton, Colorado. She was a Ventura County resident for 59 years. She was a homemaker.Frances is survived by her brother, Pedro Montez of Denver, Colorado; sons, James Arellano of Santa Paula and Phil Arellano of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Peggy Ketchpaw of Santa Paula; granddaughters, Francine Cobos (husband Robert) of Santa Paula, Debra Acevedo (husband Arnold) of Santa Paula, Lorayne Brady (husband Rudy) of Santa Paula, and Phillina Chinnici (husband Bart) of Santa Paula; grandsons, Robert Frutos of Honokaa, Hawaii, Philbert Arellano (wife Dorothy) of Santa Paula, Phillip Arellano (wife Christine) of Oxnard, and Monte Arellano (wife Theresa) of Crescent City, California; 16 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren, with two on the way; and her beloved dog Fiona. She was preceded in death by her husband Leobardo Gutierrez of Santa Paula, and 12 brothers and sisters.I am the gentle autumn rain.When you wakenin the morning’s hush,I am the swift, uplifting rushOf quiet birds in circled flight.I am the swift starsThat shine at night.Do no stand at my grave and cry,I am not there, I did not die.Visitation was scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 at Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula. A rosary followed at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, May 2 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Paula, with interment to follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula, 525-5595.Eileen NeeceEileen Neece, age 85, of Fillmore, passed away in Fillmore on April 27, 2003. She was born August 27, 1917 in Beaver City, Nebraska, and was a county resident for 64 years.Mrs. Neece worked at United Water Conservation as a principal clerk for 24 years. She belonged to the Eastern Star in Nebraska for over 50 years. She attended the University of Nebraska. She attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her sister, Lena Fults of Nebraska; son Bob Neece and wife Kathy; daughter Lela Blair and husband Jim; and grandchildren, Andy Neece, Monica Neece, and Eileen Luna and husband Craig. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Neece.Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Ventura, with Father Jerome Kahler officiating. Burial will be at Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, Santa Paula.Evan Bodie PerezEvan Bodie Perez, infant, was called by the Lord on April 26, 2003. He was greatly anticipated and loved.
