Isbell photography show held in the dark

Isbell seventh-grade photography show went on as scheduled even without any lights after a wild thunder and lightening storm hit Santa Paula on Friday, March 3 leaving the city in the dark. More than 90 photos graced the walls in the home economics room. The photos depicted life in Santa Paula through the eyes of a student. Spencer Cabral walked away with ``Best of Show'' honors, after five professional photographers agreed, that he had the most creative and unique photo entered. His photo was framed and matted by John Nichols, of the John Nichols Gallery in Santa Paula. The picture was taken on a rock near Nichol's gallery, showing only the shadow of Cabral's leg and shoe.Award winners of the contest were, Best of Show - Spencer Cabral; Best Portrait - Jacob Aranda; Manuel Guzman; Best Texture - Angelica Mendez; Best Open - Orlando Barrios. Second place: Open - Daniel Contreras, Susana Herrera, Sonia Magana, Angel Sosa, Maria Elena Reyes; Portrait - Cierra Aguilar. Honorable Mention - Yvonne Alamillo, Sergio Elizarraraz, Vanessa Medrano, Mayra Ochoa, Chance Roman, Georgina Verdeja, Fabiana Miranda, Randy Aguilera.
