New employees show city’s emphasis on shopping Santa Paula

New City of Santa Paula employees were introduced to the City Council showing the city’s emphasis on shopping Santa Paula when it comes to hiring.

By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesNew City of Santa Paula employees were introduced to the City Council showing the city’s emphasis on shopping Santa Paula when it comes to hiring.Public Works Director/City Engineer Cliff Finley introduced Water Distribution Workers Francisco Almazan and Jason Scott as well as Senior Management Analyst Scott Powers to the Council at the September 5 meeting.“Jason was raised and lives in Santa Paula,” and his father has been a city employee for “a good 20 years,” noted Finley. “I hope Jason follows in his father’s footsteps...Jason has already fit in.”Almazan is also a Santa Paulan who recently received his Water Distribution 1 Certificate said Finley.“Francisco has a background in construction and Ruben Gomez (a Superintendent in the City Water Department) speaks highly of him,” said Finley.
Powers grew up in Ventura County before graduating from California State University Hayward.His experience includes working in the Finance Division of Lockheed Martin said Finley and although employed at a Livermore facility, “Scott and his wife had a baby girl and moved back to Ventura County where his family is...he’s very happy to be back in Santa Paula.”Finance Director Tina Rivera introduced the Council to “Santa Paula native Alexis Marshall,” who recently joined the city as an Accounting Technician.“Alexis has four years of accounting experience” in the automotive and health care industries. “She’s the proud mother of an active and adorable six-year-old son, a full-time soccer mom.”Rivera noted that Marshall’s employment with the city has another bonus: “She loves softball,” and is an outstanding player whose ability is a good fit for other athletic Santa Paula employees.“The Corporate Challenge team” will surely appreciate Marshall’s talents said Rivera.
