Santa Paula News
By Susan Branham Santa Paula TimesIsbell Middle School’s Junior Condor Cancer Crushers saw the results of their hard work recently when Rotary Club of Santa Paula made a special presentation at the school campus. Students, teachers, Principal Raul Betancourt and Santa Paula Elementary School District Superintendent Elizabeth DeVita all gathered at the outdoor stage where representatives of the Rotary Club handed the Condor Cancer Crushers a check for $10,000, which will benefit the Relay for Life. The Isbell Choir and Band were also presented checks for $1000 each.
“The Junior Condor Cancer Crushers Relay for Life team wanted to do a fundraiser,” Mike Mobley, Rotary President elect said. The Rotary Club of Santa Paula provided the students with the perfect opportunity – the Faulkner Farms Pumpkin Patch. At least thirty students worked the Pumpkin Patch each weekend, and the Condor Cancer Crushers, the Isbell Choir and Band were awarded the checks as a result of their labors. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life Santa Paula event will take place in May.
