The Chamber of Commerce’s Members of the Quarter were honored for not only operating a successful business, but also for being in the business of helping others.

The Chamber at February’s Good Morning Santa Paula honored Susan and John Kulwiec, owners of Kulwiec Group, which offers architectural and interior design services. The Chamber-sponsored breakfast meeting was held at Logsdon’s Restaurant at the Santa Paula Airport.

GMSP Moderator Ben Schuck said, “It’s fair to say you don’t need to introduce John and Susan,” who are as active in community as they are in business. Susan Kulwiec recently oversaw the interior design of the renovated historic Depot, which houses the Chamber offices.

“One of our goals at the Depot was to increase visitor traffic and bring a better awareness of what is available to Chamber members,” which required an “update of the entire space.” Now brochures on current attractions, the city’s rich history and other cultural tourist friendly handouts share space with an area offering Chamber member informational pamphlets and business cards.

Susan urged, “Please bring your cards” and other promotional material for display at the Chamber office. The interior space has been repainted and historical photos displayed, just a few of the improvements suggested by Susan that turned the office into a showcase.

“I also want to thank my husband,” as well as Chamber Office Manager Ken Brookes and Membership Director Barbara Kroon. Susan also thanked the Chamber’s Board of Directors, noting, “We had a good time doing it.”

“Every time we go on vacation,” John Kulwiec said his wife “is so dedicated to the Chamber,” she makes a point of visiting chambers “everywhere we go.”

“Are we doing a good job?” asked Schuck. “We are doing a good job,” said Susan.

Schuck noted the Kulwiecs are devoted to the Chamber and the community: “I can’t think of any event you’re not involved in some fashion.” The Kulwiecs, Schuck added, “are a model” of outstanding business practices and community activism “we should all emulate.”
