Hands-Only CPR training showing
Santa Paulans how to save lives

Santa Paula Police Department Explorer Shirley Herrera was Friday’s Cruise Nite winner for the Hands-Only CPR gift certificate to La Cabana Restaurant.

Learning Hands-Only CPR only takes two minutes and it’s 60 seconds that could save a life especially as most heart attacks occur in the home.

According to Santa Paula Fire Department PIO Andy VanSciver, “Each Cruise Nite this year the SPFD will be at the corner of Mill and Main streets teaching Hands-Only CPR.”

And each person that takes the quick course can have his or her name entered into the drawing for the La Cabana Restaurant gift certificate.

At Friday’s July 3 Cruise Nite VanSciver said 65 people took the Hands-Only CPR, also known as Sidewalk CPR. The Hands-Only method does not require mouth-to-mouth methods.

“The SPFD continues to train our community in Hands-Only CPR, which can be just as effective as conventional CPR,” and VanSciver urged citizens to “Learn what Hands-Only CPR is and how to give it at every Cruise Nite this year at the corner of Mill and Main. Even children can learn how to save a life!”
