Robert J. Gonzales Robert J. Gonzales passed away peacefully on January 31, 2009, after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. Robert lived a life full of love, and was always surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Mexico on July 3, 1953 to Roberto and Audelia Gonzales.He will be greatly missed by all, including his parents, Roberto and Audelia; brothers Richard, Rudy, Alfonso and Henry; sisters Griselda Gonzales, Rachel Buenrostro, Esther Contreras, Anita Ziegeler, Susie Carr, Margaret Pecora and Jennie Dillon; brothers-in-law Alfred Buenrostro, Sammy Contreras, Dwayne Ziegeler, Ted Carr, John Pecora and Dustin Dillon; sisters-in-law Juanita Gonzales and Tammy Gonzales; nephews Alfred Buenrostro Jr., Gabriel Buenrostro, Richard Gonzales Jr., David Gonzales, Gregory Ziegeler, Ted Carr Jr. and Brandon Carr; nieces Jennifer Gonzales, Alicia Gonzales, Eileen Curiel and Lauren Ziegeler; and every other near and dear family member.Robert served in the Armed Forces. He was very proud of his military service, and enjoyed his work as a roofer and painter. His love for classic cars was evidenced by his ability to name the year and make of each vehicle that passed his way.He will always be remembered as a hard working, risk-taking, proud individual. He lived life to the fullest and never hesitated to lend anyone a helping hand. He gave his family and friends all that he could, and loved camping, BBQs, the beach, water skiing, bicycle riding, and driving his vehicle.To all who knew Robert, thank you for your kindness and friendship. Tovias, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on Friday, January 23, 2009, in Santa Paula after a lengthy illness.Vera was born June 12, 1922 in Santa Paula to Mateo and Carmen Sariñana, and attended local schools, graduating from Santa Paula High School in 1940. She worked many years at Santa Paula Mupu and Santa Paula Orange Association packing houses.Her greatest joy was cooking for her family. She also loved to sew, knit and crochet.Vera is survived by her son, Ron Tovias (wife Julie); daughter Gloria Tovias; grandchildren, Eric Tovias (wife Claudia), Raymond Ramirez (wife Marie), Mia Tovias and Steven Tovias; and great-grandchildren, Justine and Eloise Ramirez, Joshua, Gabriel and Samuel Tovias, Aaron Gomez and Joseph Morales. Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Inasio (Nash) Tovias.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ventura County Medical Center-Santa Paula Hospital, Assisted Home Hospice, and Dr. Anna Chen for their compassionate care.Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 7 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 427 N. Oak St., Santa Paula.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Assisted Home Hospice, 2140 Eastman Ave., Suite 203, Ventura, CA 93003.
