A Santa Paula man driving a pickup truck hit a West Harvard Boulevard cement utility pole head-on Tuesday, but no one including his passengers sustained injury.

Santa Paula Police Senior Officer Larry Johnson said the incident occurred March 6 in the 200 block of West Harvard Boulevard at 11:54 a.m. Kevin Juarez, 26, who was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound, told police “he swerved to avoid something in the roadway and collided with the pole. Others in the vehicle,” Juarez’s two passengers, “stated they did not see anything that caused him to swerve.”

Johnson said he does not know the dollar amount of the damage to the utility pole, “but he leveled it all the way to the ground.” It does not appear Juarez was traveling above the 30 mph speed limit when he struck the pole.

Johnson said Juarez’s Dodge Ram pickup truck did receive, “major front end damage.... He hit the pole head-on, pretty much dead center of his truck.”
