Founded in 1937 by Santa Clara River Valley artists such as Douglas Shively, Jesse Arms and Cornelis Botke of Santa Paula as well as Larry Hinkley of Fillmore, the annual art show offers an array of prizes in numerous art categories. The Douglas Shively “Jury of Your Peers” award is the selection done by competition artists; the public is invited to pick their favorite work through the “Peoples Choice” award, a unique component of this annual art event.“Hozy’s Santa Paula Grill is proud to be affiliated with an art competition of the caliber of the Santa Paula Art and Photography Show,” said Hozy’s founder Gary Holzapfel. “This art show celebrates not only those prominent artists who live and work in Santa Paula and Fillmore, but those throughout the western states.
